Espectacular partido entre los actuales campeones los Portland Trail Blazers y los Chicago Bulls, y enfrentamiento en todo lo alto entre dos de las torres de la liga, Bill Walton en portland y Artis Gilmore en Chicago… pero el verdadero protagonista fue el base Lionel Hollins, a falta de 30 segundos portland gana de 3 puntos (entonces no existia el triple) pero los bulls anotan rapido poniendose a 1 punto.. los blazers con 18 segundos solo tenia que agotar la posesion para ganar el partido, pero una mala seleccion de tiro hizo que fuese taponado un tiro exterior con el consiguiente contrataque y canasta de los bulls que les ponia un punto arriba a falta de 4 segundos.. pero ese tiempo fue suficiente para que el base estrella L.Hollins lanzara con dos defensores encima y anotara el tiro de la victoria sobre la bocina...

Por parte de Detroit brilla el mítico Bob Lanier (20 puntos), toda su carrera jugando para equipos perdedores, quedando como uno de los mejores jugadores NBA que nunca consiguió el anillo, junto con el propio Maravich, George Gervin o David Thompson. Merece la pena ver a Pistol Pete, un adelantado a su tiempo.
